Emma Pollock

A founding member of critically acclaimed Scottish band The Delgados, Emma Pollock was a writer and singer with the band during its initial 10-year life span, disbanding in 2005. During this time the band released 5 studio albums, including 2000’s Mercury nominated album ‘The Great Eastern’ and toured extensively worldwide. Emma is a founding director of both Scotland’s longest running independent record company Chemikal Underground (est 1995) and its sister recording studio Chem19 (est 1997). Emma has released 4 solo albums; ‘Watch The Fireworks’ (4AD) 2007, ‘The Law Of Large Numbers’ (Chemikal Underground) 2010, ‘In Search of Harefield’ (Chemikal Underground) 2016 and ‘Begging The Night To Take Hold’ (Chemikal Underground) in 2025.

9 years since her last release, Emma Pollock returns with her fourth studio album Begging The Night To Take Hold. On her most personal work yet, Pollock combines honest & raw songwriting with artful arrangement to both arresting & quietening effect. Curiosity, revelation, playfulness & melancholy sit amidst a deceptively stripped back accompaniment provided by deft instrumentation. Melody, sometimes spritely, sometimes hesitant, remains at the forefront. Featuring musicians Graeme Smillie (piano), Pete Harvey (cello) & Paul Savage (drums/producer).
