Valtos

Valtos are Skye natives Daniel Docherty and Martyn MacDonald, building electronic music around pipes, fiddle and Gaelic song with a core band of Eilidh Cormack, Lana Pheutan, Euan McLaughlin, Finn MacPherson and Kenneth Macfarlane. Two albums in, they have worked with Donnie Munro, Julie Fowlis, Elephant Sessions and Beluga Lagoon, and sold out Glasgow's Barrowland Ballroom plus multiple dates across the UK and Ireland. They performed and soundtracked the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony, broadcast to millions. Their Auld Lang Syne soundtracked the midnight fireworks at Edinburgh's Hogmanay. They also tour High Water Mark, a stripped-back trio DJ show with live fiddle.

The Last Light

For The Last Light, Valtos wanted to build on their signature sound, but also to say something. Where Do I Go, Destination Melbourne and The Years take an honest look at Scottish society: what it means to love where you come from while watching it change, and not being sure that change is for the better. To capture the sound of a modern Scotland, they enlisted Beluga Lagoon, Lucia & The Best Boys, Ruairidh Gray, Julie Fowlis and Kim Carnie. At the album's heart is the core band: Lana and Eilidh's Gaelic vocals, Euan's fiddle, Finn's pipes and whistles.
