Maranta

Maranta are a captivating synth-pop duo from Edinburgh, comprising of Gloria Black and Callum Govan. Since forming in 2018, they’ve become known for their atmospheric, dance-floor-ready sound, blending pulsing synths, improvisational twists, and dreamlike textures. Their debut single “Radiate” (2019) and EP Care ii Cure built early buzz, and was followed by another EP ‘Deux Pleasure’ released on Lost Map Records in 2022. Alongside performing, they curate Microsteria, an immersive club-night and festival stage takeover that fuses electronic music with visual & performance art. Their debut album Day Long Dream (May 2025), coinciding with their final live show in Edinburgh.

Day Long Dream

Day Long Dream is the debut album from Scottish duo Maranta. Inspired by electronic dreamscapes, pulsing dance floor mutations and improvisational meanderings recorded in their studio in Leith over the past two years, the album is a synthesis of the collaborative projects they have drawn inspiration from yet underlines their unique sonic outlook. Day Long Dream delivers a tight track listing of bounding pop bops featuring twitching analogue synths, skittish childlike melodies, propulsive bass and dance floor moulded vocals. Via free form structures, the album transitions through alternate realities and slips between illusory worlds.
